Doll Face

dress: Free People; belt: eBay; tights: Kohl's; shoes: Guess

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!! I'm so excited for tonight because I'm going to Knott's Scary Farm and I've never been before! Okay, well I'm like part excited and part terrified, but I can't wait! Hopefully I don't wee myself, because that would be embarrassing...

Working Man

jacket: hand-me-down; shirt: Tommy Hilfiger;
shorts: American Eagle Outfitters; shoes: Converse

This is one of my all time favorite jackets because it's so warm and cozy and has so much sentimental value. It was originally my dad's, but he gave it to my mom when they were in college. As early as seven years old, I started stealing this jacket from my mom because I loved how large and blanket-like it was. Eventually, my mom decided to just give it to me! Now whenever I wear it, I feel like I have a piece of them with me.

Bye-bye Boot(y)

top: thrifted; skirt: Cotton On;
socks: Kohl's; boots: American Rag

You see these boots? In one month, I will have had them for two years, and, naturally, I developed a bond with them, but it is almost time for them to go. One of them has a hole in the side, and the heel of the other one is super-glued on. That's why I'm going shopping for a new pair this weekend. It's so sad! For some reason, I get oddly attached to inanimate objects-- especially shoes. But you know what? It's time to move on. When one door opens, another door opens. I guess. *sigh* What am I doing with my life?

Wine Shop

dress: Forever 21; bag: BCBGeneration;
socks: Kohl's; shoes: Cathy Jean

I am obsessed with this rich wine color for autumn, so I was very excited when I found this dress at Forever 21 for $15. $15!! Sorry, I get very excited when I find dresses under $20, I don't know why. Let me just rave about how great this dress is for a moment. The fabric is nice and thick-- not that cheap, thin stuff you usually find at Forever 21. The print is seasonal and perfect for wear with thicker fabrics. The structure is just so perfect: I love the three-quarter length sleeves and the cut at the bottom. Ah I'm just so excited for all the potential outfits with this dress. You know those pieces that you get unreasonably excited for? This is one of those.

Subject Matter

t-shirt: original by me; skirt: Topshop; tights: Kohl's; shoes: Coach

I've always loved libraries and books stores, because there's something special about holding a book in your hand. Flipping through the pages and hearing that soft sound of paper turning is just so relaxing. You just can't replace that with reading on a tablet or a phone. (Besides, if you download the book on your phone, you can't smell the pages! Though, it has recently come to my attention that very few people do that so... yeah.) I will admit that reading off a tablet or phone makes the physical act of reading more enjoyable. For some reason I seriously struggle with getting comfortable while I read. I literally have to change positions every ten minutes. In fact, the struggle was so real that I came up with an invention! Wouldn't it be so cool if you had a thing on  your phone or something that could project the words from your book onto the ceiling? That way you can lay down and read without holding a book above your head! If anyone wants to make that a reality just let me know. I'm thinking of calling it "The Word Kuo-Jector". Anyone? Anyone? No? Okay.

Quirky Goddess

top: Nordstrom Rack; belt: Foreign Exchange; skirt: vintage; shoes: ?

This is the beautiful Kayla! She is the lovely lady who makes all of my pretty bows. Kayla has a very classic, girly style, but her modeling skills are beyond unique. Because of the brown belt and the basic white tank, this look is very down to earth. The tiny floral print on the skirt adds a delicate element while still keeping the outfit grounded.

Soft Edge

jacket/shirt: hand-me-down; shirt: Topshop;
skirt: Forever 21; shoes: Converse

Sorry that there's different lighting in each photo, I haven't quite figured out the concept of light... I was excited for this outfit because the graphic print and the bright sneakers make it slightly edgy, but having my hair pulled back on the sides makes it a little more precious.

Garden Walk

dress: Band of Gypsies; shoes: Converse

Miya's back! I just really liked the feminine simplicity of her dress and how perfectly they matched her sneakers. Aside from the red sneakers bringing out the red in the flowers, I really love how the stiff, shiny material contrasts with the soft print on the dress. Side note: I tried to be artistic with the cat tails, but clearly I failed. I would like to apologize for that. Luckily, Miya looks beautiful-- regardless of my (lack of) photography skills.

Fairy Princess

scarf: Aeropostale; shirt: Net;
dress: misc. boutique in Taiwan; shoes: Coach

Today was just one of those days where I decided to dress like a six year-old. The purple plaid print and the pink tutu are both very loud, but their combination is very playful and somewhat ethereal. I kind of feel like this outfit speaks loud enough on its own, so I'll leave it at that.

Raw Candy

top: Zara; cardigan: Juicy Couture; skirt: Forever 21;
socks: Kohl's; shoes: Call it Spring

The coral and black is my subtle way of expressing my excitement for Halloween. I've had my costume idea ready since mid-September and this past weekend I bought a bag of Kit-Kats and a bag of Reese's to get in the Halloween mood. I know it's kind of early, but I feel like sharing all the reasons that I love Halloween. First of all, I love the night. It's just so cool and dark and mysterious and halcyon, and when I was younger, trick-or-treating was really the only opportunity I had to wander around at night. I also enjoy the opportunity to be creepy. For some reason I really love eerie moods even though I can't handle horror films. I know, it's paradoxical. Perhaps the best thing about Halloween, though, is the costumes. Halloween lets me take pieces from my wardrobe and wear them any way I like. It's just so freeing and exciting! If you made it this far, thanks for listening to me drone on about Halloween!
